UK bonus’s top £26Billion, charity donations remain static
Predictions are that by 2016 the UK will the richest nation in the world. 26% of the population will be millionaires. And it’s not all about property inflation. £26Billion of bonus payments were received in the 15 months to April 2007. So are we becoming more charitable? You might think so from the media, but the stats show public donations have been static for the last decade. Larger, generally well-funded charities - ‘the super league’ with incomes over £100million a year - take more of the public’s money whilst smaller charities are losing out.

Two new sites for major donors to select projects online launched in September.
Oxfam Projects Direct is encouraging people who want to give over £10,000 to a single project to connect with what’s going on locally.
The Big Give has been set up with a database of projects from over 60 charities for people wishing to give £100,000 or more

This was 1989 and I was 40. I went home and waved a training schedule around in front of my wife’s dinner companions who offered to sponsor me £1000.
